Description
Alkalinity Increaser is a chemical product used to raise the total alkalinity (TA) levels in hot tub and spa water. Total alkalinity is a measure of the water’s ability to neutralize acids and maintain a stable pH level.
Why is it required?
- pH Balance: TA acts as a buffer to prevent drastic fluctuations in pH. Maintaining a proper TA level makes it easier to keep the pH within the ideal range for hot tub use (7.2-7.8).
- Equipment Protection: Low TA can cause the water to become corrosive, which can damage the hot tub’s components, such as the heater, pump, and jets.
- User Comfort: Imbalanced water chemistry can cause skin and eye irritation, making the hot tub experience unpleasant.
Benefits of using Alkalinity Increaser:
- Maintains proper TA levels: Helps to keep the TA within the recommended range of 80-120 ppm (parts per million).
- Stabilizes pH: Prevents drastic changes in pH, making it easier to maintain a balanced and comfortable environment.
- Protects equipment: Prevents corrosion and damage to the hot tub’s components.
- Enhances user comfort: Reduces the risk of skin and eye irritation.
Important Considerations:
- Test water regularly: Use test strips to monitor the TA and pH levels in your hot tub.
- Follow product instructions: Always follow the instructions on the Alkalinity Increaser product label for proper dosage and application.
- Consult a professional: If you have any questions or concerns about water chemistry, consult a hot tub professional for assistance.
By maintaining proper total alkalinity levels with Alkalinity Increaser, you can ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable hot tub experience.
Instructions

- Re-test the water to ensure you have attained the desired reading.
- Only add Spa Alkalinity Increaser in stages and always re-test after additions.
