How does Scandinavian Insulation differ from 'Full Foam'?
Many manufacturers use “full foam,” which makes servicing difficult and can lead to rodent damage or waterlogging over time. Wellis uses Scandinavian Polyfoam insulation, which involves installing high-density foam boards directly into the spa’s frame, leaving a gap of warm air between the shell and the cabinet. This utilises the heat generated by the pumps (waste energy) to help maintain the water temperature, effectively recycling energy that would otherwise be lost.
Why are Wellis covers tapered (sloped)?
Our thermal covers are thicker in the middle (120mm) and taper down to the sides (70mm). This serves two energy-saving purposes:
Run-off: It allows rain and snow to run off immediately, preventing cold water from pooling on top and sucking heat out of your spa.
Hinge Seal: It accommodates a full-length thermal seal along the hinge, stopping the “chimney effect” where heat escapes through the fold in the middle of the cover.
